Pave Paradise?

"Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths." Psalm 148:7

Finding solitude with my head under the cerulean salt water watching the pastel colored Parrot Fish peck at Brain Coral, as swollen bellied, beer swigging white men blare Van Hagaar, while their fake tan, enhanced breasts, suburban trophy wives swat at the sand on their french pedicures with their matching cover-ups, and their overindulgent 2.5 screaming children with fluorescent green noodles take over the once serene coconut palm white beaches of my old island.

Yep, if it's too loud. I'm too old. And dear old St. John ain't the same.

Longing for the salty dogs swilling warm rum, bathing their sun drenched dredlocks in Joy dishwashing liquid on the stern of their 4o foot Schooner's, barking sayings like "Mind the Rudder or Meet the Rock", before they fell asleep to the ocean lapping against their water line under a quiet starry sky.

When did life get so whitewashed?

Why Worry?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Phillipians 4:6-7

"Take a vacation. A Vacation from my problems. You bet I will." BOB

Taking a page out of my favorite psychosomatic, multi phobic, over eccentric sailor, Bob Wiley's rule book....
After stacking numerous olive green Rubbermaid containers full of my disastrous NC-17 high school letters and well used paperback copies of Franny and Zooey into a dusty storage facility, and bidding another bittersweet farewell to my quiet Bradford Pear lined street with a residual yard sale couch perched in my front yard, I'm embarking on a holiday to ease the deep creases in my face, because it's either a certain bow out or Botox.

This also means taking baby steps to a break from the daily dose of drivel.

Isn't no news, good news?

Risen and Ruling

"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's Grace." Ephesians 1:7

Regardless of your hat, ham, or hidden eggs, He is Risen. And He is the Lord of heaven and Earth.

This is the day that the Lord has made and these are the lyrics that brought a broken congregation to their feet in tears this delightful Easter morn....

"...Then He raised me to my feet
And as I looked into His eyes.
The love was shining out from Him
Like sunlight from the skies.
Guilt in my confusion disappeared in sweet release.
And every fear I'd ever had,
Just melted into peace..
He's alive, yes He's alive.
I'm forgiven and Heaven'g gates are open wide.
Oh He's alive, He's alive.
Hallelujah He's alive.
He's alive. He's alive. He's alive.

I believe it, that He's alive.
Sweet Jesus."

Happy Ressurection Sunday...

Be Blessed by these words.

Truth #2

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:12

Will you surrender?

Good Friday

"Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”-
Matthew 20:17-19

Out at our neighborhood coffee shop with elbow room to spare.
The hardware, grocery, and pharmacy doors didn't give way this morning when I anxiously pulled on the handles at 7:15 this morning. Apparently Atlanta is a city that sleeps.

So my motivation is on hold as I anticipate the die hard yard salers trying to peak past my shoulder to see what I got hiding in my house and how they can scam me out of my possessions.

It is clear I am not in the Northeast anymore, people are looking me in the eyes, smiling, and evangelizing about the Lord every where I go.
Something about buying a dark coffee to nurse my ailing pollen filled sinus and being told to have a blessed day.

I get to freely tell them this back with no backlash:

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. 1 Peter 3:18

Are you thankful for the Cross?

A Dewy New

"Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green" Psalm 92:13-14

Quiet on a porch the size of my NY abode.

And there's something 'bout the Southland in the springtime
Where the waters flow with confidence and reason
Though I miss her when I'm gone it won't ever be too long
Till I'm home again to spend my favorite season
When God made me born a yankee he was teasin'
There's no place like home and none more pleasin'
Than the Southland in the springtime

In Georgia nights are softer than a whisper
Beneath a quilt somebody's mother made by hand
With the farmland like a tapestry passed down through generations

And the peach trees stitched across the land
There'll be cider up near Helen off the roadside
And boiled peanuts in a bag to warm your fingers
And the smoke from the chimneys meets its maker in the sky
With a song that winter wrote whose melody lingers. IG

And the Bradford Pears, White Cherry Blossoms, Golden Forsythia, and Confederate Jasmine mesmerize your heart and mind leading you back to your roots.
Everyday with every worn out breath this Georgia Pine air is renewing my spirit and leading me back here soon.

April Fools.

SShhh, can you hear the stress melting?
