The Reloaded Rogue With Rouge

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30

Sorry I
was at work earning my grocery money on Monday afternoon, so I missed the highly opinionated (surprise, surprise) interview with Sarah Palin. But I didn't need to be planted on the cushions of my rented couch with a nitrate filled Lunchable packet in my lap to know the ignorant would be screaming at the screen....

If indeed Fox deserter Alan Colmes is right, and the hell fire hatred of the mother of five and former governor of Alaska is strictly for amusement, that means the loud mouth fearful liberals are just bitterly opposed to a wild Ferris wheel ride. And that ain't the God's honest truth.
One, it is a sexist issue and the left feminists are uncharacteristically tight lipped. Two, a strong conservative pro-life, pro-gun, sexy woman scares the hell out the Democrats who see her policy potential. She destroys the very core ideas of Liberalism and she may just rise to the occasion. The impending year of 2012 is promoting fear in many souls... for some unbelieving sell outs (Cusack)* and for those looking for a second term of power.

Eleven Reporters from the AP checking her facts?...I'm sorry, that is the definition of VENDETTA and a genuine waste of time. The obsession with discrediting this woman is driven with a slight more forced agenda than sheer amusement. And it doesn't take an idiot to recognize that.
Ask any Joe Schmo in the street their view of Palin and they will give you an uneducated and uninformed answer based purely on appearance. The same as the OBAMA Swag dealing vendors in Union Square give in their support of him, but don't know why... "He's black, I mean change man." He represents "Change."

Hear me now, the lazy jackasses who don't relish freedom and who are glued to the "Real Life Housewives of (insert city) for your amusement, you wouldn't know a real woman if she pulled her pants down and sat on your face.
Palin presents the strength of America while our very own Commander in Chief projects weakness to every other nation.

She's genuine. She's consistent. And she's blowing the lid off of the New York Times best seller list.
This is the cold hard truth.

Do you know I am right...then can you prove I'm wrong?

*Love Cusack, just always thought he was the avant garde independent, clever dialogue, film noir type

Awaken the Muse Within

"You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance." Psalm 32:7

Gathering from the beige 1980's minivan parked a foot from the curb today on 73rd Street and the sixty year old Asian woman with a maroon skull cap singing at the top of her tiny little lungs...(all 4"10 of her) to the blaring through the window seams Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy bright and early this morning..she was looking for some inspiration to take on the day.

Nine hours later, on the same stretch on the Upper West, a huge dark skinned black man with dripping jerry curls to make you blush got out of a beat up white Dodge work van with a tool belt sagging around the bottom of his already saggin ass, belting out country boys Rascal Flats loud and clear for the rushing home hood. Yet, another brother mustering enthusiastic energy from the tunage.

All proving stereotypes are hard to form here as we all sing our theme song blues.

Here is one (of many) of mine.

"Until you've seen this trash can dream come true,
You stand at the edge, while people run you through.
And I thank the Lord, there's people out there like you,
I thank the Lord there's people out there like you.

While Mona Lisas and mad hatters,
sons of bankers, sons of lawyers,
turn around and say, "good morning" to the night.
For unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why,
they know not if it's dark out side or light.

This Broadway's got, its got a lot of songs to sing,
if I knew the tunes I might join in.
I go my way alone, grow my own,
my own seeds shall be sown, in New York city.
Subways no way , for a good man to go down,
Rich man can ride, and the hobo he can drown.

And I thank the Lord for the people I have found,
I thank the Lord for the people I have found.

While Mona Lisas and mad hatters,
sons of bankers, sons of lawyers,
turn around and say, "good morning" to the night.
For unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why,
they know not if it's dark out side or light."

Shine Jesus Shine

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." Revelation 4:11

Our sun is the most magnificent star in our God's Great Galaxy (that I know of). Amazingly not our largest by huge margins and certainly not our smallest, but the very energy source of all living thing we see, smell, feel, taste, and hear. As if I am not enthralled enough by its sheer size, distance from the Earth, and the broad rainbow of colors splayed across the the sky when it meets and greet the horizon. But the warmth we feel, stepping out from the shaded shadow of the high rises is power generated from nuclear fusion...isn't this sufficient to amaze?
A massive dense fiery ball of burning gases, plasma, dust, and particles from other dying stars and elements of burned out supernovas, it formed nearly five million years ago and the centerpiece of our world.

Thankfully, it magnificently shone through the golden locust outside our fire escape window this balmy November morning beckoning an early start to a wide open day of Manhattan Wonder. In our eyes walking East for a blazing hot and soft New York Bagel, against our backs meandering through the bright yellow ginkgo filled Ramble ablaze in Central Park, above us ascending the cozy limestone steps of the Natural History Museum revealing the patina in T.R's sword, and setting over the Jackie Onassis Reservoir as the red-tail hawks hunted hungrily on the edge. A constant solar companion to us and a breathtaking daily reminder that He controls it all.

Makes me feel small, humbled, and insignificant in the scheme of His wondrous plan, realizing it doesn't rise and shine just for me.

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." C.S. Lewis

The Future

"I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who lacked judgment." Proverbs 7:7

It is a sign of the times when our youth donned in acid washed jeans, fluorescent high top kicks, and knee length cardigans are walking around with a sense of entitlement on hillbilly made industrial drugs, texting on their iPhones, and discussing nothing short of void?? They believe their evolved notion of their generation being ahead of the curve while they are realistically twenty years behind and LIKE utterly clueless to LIKE current events you know....
They live in these historic pre-war buildings without a mere thought of the people and sacrifices before them. They actually think hip-hop is good in the 2000 decade. And not one of them could hang from their wherewithal in a harness blasting dynamite in a canyon to build the remarkable Hoover Dam.
Scarier still..they're Godless.

God I'm old. And weepy.

""If you're young and not a liberal, you have no heart; if you're old and not a conservative, you have no brain."" Winston Churchill

You know what. If you knew me. You would take everything I say with a grain of salt. I write all of this in front of an open window to St. Marks Place in my panties and a hoodie sweatshirt with Metallica's S & M blaring in my Nag Champa smoke filled 300 square foot apartment and a glass of cold Knob Creek beside me.
Life would be more fluid if I surrendered more to the guitar, prayed continuously to the King of Kings and let all the bullshit go.

I knew what I wanted to do in my youth when I lined up my brother's black Members Only with the flip collar next to my mom's homemade pink jacket for a quick exchange in my reenactment of Stephanie Zanoni's"Cool Rider" Grease 2.
To Perform!!

50 Head shots. 50 Cover Letters. 50 Envelopes. 50 Resumes. 50 Casting Agencies.
100% HOPE.

So maybe David Bowie was right, Youth...'They're quite aware of what they're going through."

What do we REALLY have to lose in following the call?

If You've Got Love..

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:4

John McEnroe was a winning player and perpetual whiner.
His spoiled bratty tactics earned him a notorious reputation and a name in the tennis history books. Raked it in competitively and doled it out in fines. Today, those same precocious pouting tendencies shaved two hours off of my already fourteen hour day in tight black pants and an NYPD badge as he refused to sign his contract on the SVU set and they cancelled his scene just like that.
Won't work in this court. Plan B....

You know the scene in St. Elmo's Fire when Estevez' character Kirby Keager has been longingly chasing after the soft bouncy curls and china doll skin doctor? He humiliates himself soaking wet from an eve of stalking in the cold rain and she gingerly takes him in and vulnerably discloses to him that while she thought the softer side of her got into medicine to help others, the truth is she realizes it's more about the money.
That is spot on.
Standing on cobblestones in the long wind tunnel of The Police Plaza at City Hall in heels. I'm frozen to the bone. And there are over four wardrobe assistants carrying around puffy coats to throw over the principals actors shoulders between takes while the prop guys rush to set up a heater under Mariska's ass. I stuff the hand warmers into my bra giving my detective look a more voluptuous lift and suck it up.

When I question what I am accomplishing in background at minimum wage, I resonate with the solid advice of another sports great reminding me I will always miss 100% of the shots I don't take. They are making $250K an episode now but they started on the sidelines.

Yep, there is mad money to be made here so I keep my eye on the ball and stay in the game.

Or would you rather throw in your racket?

Wandering in the Wood

"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?" Luke 15:4

As a writer, you're obligated to draw readers into your world, and if your writing isn't interesting to them, you won't succeed." Donald Perry

The blog now dictates my mood and not vice versa, whereas my mood once inspired the blog.I got nothing. When inserted into the equation, that equals nothing....

Asked by a dear friend today what I am doing? I responded, I don't know.

As the last golden leaves fall on the wet pavement out my window, the blandness sets in.

Maybe my plunging neckline with a badge as a squad room detective with Christopher Meloni will add some flavor.

Maybe succumbing to the humdrum of one day is possible...even in Manhattan.

I swear I have a point.

"How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live." Henry David Thoreau

So instead I will sleep and dream about my purpose.

What do you look for when you can't remember what you set out to find?

Gratitude

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
2 Corinthians 3:17

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you to all of the armed forces veterans for a debt that can never be repaid. Thank you for our comforting safety. It is because of you, we walk in liberty.

And now reblogged from my always cheerful neighbor who must have known I needed a good tearful laugh.
A fave New Yorker to another....giving a gift from the heart.

Does it take much to bring you comfort?
