Get Up, Get Out, And Get Something

"Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.  For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you,  nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you.

It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate.  For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.
Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.

If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother."
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

About eight years ago, I equated the redistribution of wealth in society to the redistribution of students GPA points on a college campus and today my church showed a video detailing the exact notion.

It taking from the success and surplus of other's hard work and supplementing other's lack and deficit right?
Is subtracting from a 4.0 gained from steadfast studies and constant work and given to the bong toking, class skipping, truent fair??
Why should one's achievement be penalized so a sponge can benefit??

A plea to our President....if he wants a great nation, quit giving away handouts. If you didn't earn it, it's not your money to be enjoyed
. In fact,  it is a blatant sin and downright shame if you're able to work, to sit idle and wait with an open mouth.

Everything About That Name

Flair For The Dramatic

"Have the gates of death been revealed to you, or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?" Job 38:17

I know this much is true.

A cobblestone, rusty nail covered dead end alley that T's into a cesspool known as the Gowanus Canal, with grungy houseboats and punk rock inhabitants, can somehow become the breeding ground for radioactive water and incensed contempt for the egos that fail to bleed through on your HD screens.

I know what this must sound like.

Spiteful, theatrical queen stuck behind the camera lens and in the dim, frigid shadows of New York's towers and other's surmounting fame falls prey to envy, but that would be far from factual.

Yet, I stare at my distorted reflection in the bubbling battery acid floating on top of the sewer sludge, and see the grim faces of many of the Mafia chosen before me.
And my fate beside them, sinking below the surface if this season doesn't end soon.

Is that too sensational?

Askew

"I the Preacher have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind." Ecclesiastes 1:12-14

Today, I verbalized that I would stay on this all consuming hamster wheel and deny the whisper telling me that I'm off my course in life all for the money.

This is disobedience in it's truest form.

Can you relate?

Grain Of Salt

"Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands." Ephesians 5:24
*From the author's imagination and gathered assumptions:

The conversations about leaving New York have begun and one pair of wandering shoe's have the urge for going, while the other stands firm on Manhattan's bedrock.

Rewind four long Autumn's ago, sitting in the middle of my living room floor, packing up my secure life in boxes, answering the call for change that swelled in my soul because my mind suffered from mediocrity in Atlanta....
My understanding husband leaned on the sidearm of our leopard chair and said he was glad he wasn't making the move.
Fast forward four springs and it's him who clings to this island of misfit toys.
He's happy.  The kind of happy he wasn't in Georgia.

It's him that looks past the mountains of rotting garbage and sees the Cheshire cat moon smiling at the end of a cherry blossom filled street.
It's him who notices steam rising off the Hudson at sunrise as rush hour commuters are opening their eyes and turning over their engines.
The perfect wood fired crust washed down with a cold draft on a spring Sunday is enough to get him through the week....Walking through Lincoln Center abuzz with black suits and floor length gowns of visitors worldwide only brings pride to his Manhattan residency....Union Square farmers market crowded with city chefs and heroin induced sun worshipers isn't a an indulgent inconvenience, but what makes this city great.
Subway musicians, acrobats, opera singers, beggars, pleaders, gropers, streakers, screamers, and smelly sleepers are still his eccentric neighbors along side him on the wild and crazy ride.

Me. I'm just tired.  And ready to draw a fat red line through the words - Live in New York City- and move on down my Bucket List.

April 15- A Repeat From Last Year

“For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.” Romans 13: 6-7

This Tragic Day in History...

Abraham Lincoln was shot dead.

The Titanic sank.

And ever since the passing of the Sixteenth Amendment in 1913,  today marks the day that millions of Americans bend over and take it in the ass from the IRS.

Tragic.

We're getting money back this year thanks to our vagabond, independent contractor ways and New York's obscene tax code...but not a fraction of what they gained from my labor.

The Fair Tax Law is looking better all the time.

"We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle" Winston Churchill

If it wasn't legalized mugging, would you still give it up?

All Ha Ha Ha Hail

Someone is sleuthing on set.

They've repeatedly put a piece of black gaffer's tape on the upper lip of the sound cart's poster of Obama.

This act is much to the chagrin of many crew member's who call Ann Coulter a fascist cunt.

As for me...I am intrigued as to who might be capable of such a treasonous, yet amusing act.

Mandarin: Our 2nd Lnguage

"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. Psalm 118:8

Wake up and smell the very expensive gas fumes America.

There is only one Savior.

In the words of Tina Turner, we don't need another hero.

You who voted with your heart four years ago need to examine yourselves and vote with your head.

After you get a real education on our fleeting freedoms under this administration.

We owe China 1.2 Trillion dollars.

China!

And have no way of paying it back.

They are buying billions of dollars in US Treasuries with every intention of OWNING us, and Obama trips over himself in blundering apologies for America being America.

We are in trouble kids and while this nation can not even make ends meet and desperately needs a solution, so many are still sitting blind, deaf, and dumb clinging to the unmet promises of Hope.

Am I sad  that the Evangelical Christian's vote hangs in the ever changing wind?

Yes.

Does Romney get me excited?

Far From.

But I am so scared of these next four years that I am buying a 357 Revolver, moving to the North Georgia Mountains, growing my own food, and spending the limited down time I now possess, watching You Tube tutorials on how to generate wind and sun power so I can fall off the grid and not be touched by his social agendas and this grossly obese and entitled state he's fostering.

"OUT OF THE RUINS, OUT FROM THE WRECKAGE, CAN`T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THIS TIME." T.T.

Restore and preserve America, a nation under God.

You've got seven months, will you make the right choice?

The New Covenant

"When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." John 19:30

The Holy Spirit rained down on the hearts and lives of a City Light Church congregation last night, bringing those of us to our knees and to our feet in complete adoration for the Glory of God, the Light of the World, Jesus Messiah, Emmanuel. It poured out in the streets and over the searching and lost East Village crowd, saying Come, Come, Come rest easy in His finished work.

It was a Great Friday.

Consequences of Sin

"For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt" Hebrews 6:4-6

I dreamed I tore a piece of crispy potato off the top of my over sized pomme fritte I was eating and threw it on the marble stairs in which I was rapidly walking.  A Puerto Rican cleaning woman rushed through a Grand Central quality crowd and scolded me.
I told her it was just a cracker, but she insisted I save her the trouble.

When I retraced my steps and picked up my french fry bit, it occurred to me that it could have easily been squished by the sole of a newly polished shoe and tracked into a freshly clean Brownstone foyer, smeared onto a Persian rug, then licked up by the family cat, and puked back up in a pile of dove grey hair and spit.

While a cracker crumb would have just been pulverized into smaller crumbs, crushed on the very white marble in which they scattered, eventually brushed off into the sewer grates, and what tiny specks weren't carried into the air, would dissolve in a puddle of the city's ooze and cease to exist.

This is my subconscious answer to... what's the difference?
