Doctor, Paging Doctor Denial

"For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." 1 Corinthians 2:11

Had some serious face time playing a sick patient on Royal Pains this eve...mmm foreboding.

Our mind has a way of responding to anxiety by increasing natural problem solving methods. When this fails, we often fall into a less fruitful, often damaging, and almost always unconscious tactic.  Defense Mechanisms...
This is the least evolved of the range of means to an end but the go to way for the weak and wounded.
Sigmund Freud would diagnose my modus operandi as an unhealthy blend of projection, disassociation, and rationalization.  But my most common line of defense is, stifling my real emotions.

Call it private or provident, it steals joy.

I wonder what kind of psychological havoc this will continue to wreak...

Maybe it will improve my acting.

"There are many things in your heart you can never tell to another person. They are you, your private joys and sorrows, and you can never tell them. You cheapen yourself, the inside of yourself, when you tell them..." Gretta Garbo

Do you open your heart?
