I think my friend in NY is feeling my pain about writing a New York blog from the top of a Georgia mountain. It just isn't the same speed....nor the same content.
So he's sending the news on down the line.
This speech is my recital, I think it's very vital
To rock a rhyme, that's right on time
It's Tricky is the title, here we go...
It's Tricky is the title, here we go...
In New York the people talk and try to make us rhyme
They really (hawk) but we just (walk) because we have no time
And in the city it's a pity cause we just can't hide
Tinted windows don't mean nothin', they know who's inside.
They really (hawk) but we just (walk) because we have no time
And in the city it's a pity cause we just can't hide
Tinted windows don't mean nothin', they know who's inside.
It's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time. It's tricky, tricky, tricky.
Rev Run, D.M.C, Jay Master Jay
Grandmaster may have been a pioneer but these boys were the first Hip Hop Superstars.
Run DMC was the first rap band to receive airplay on MTV and go gold, they broke sound barriers between rock and rap fans, spawned imitators opening the gate for gangsta rap, and were finally inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame this year.
Groundbreaking musically and frontiers on the gold chain dripping, unlaced Adidas donning style, these three boys straight out of Queens had an uncompromising vision for a new sound that quickly made its way into the musical mainstream from the East Coast to Farm Country bridging the gap between urban and rural youth. ( I should know, I remember the street dances fondly)
And today their hometown payed them some deserved homage.
Where: Hollis, the southeaster section of the New York Burrough Queens.
And the birthplace of hip-hop.
Walk this way on RUN DMC JMJ Way....honoring the legendary trio.
Queens representing.
But can you rock it like this?
